Subject: Have any of you planted canola on 30" rows?

We used our old 4 x 30" Buffalo ridge-till planter to plant some canola plots this afternoon at the WIU Organic Research Farm.

We used small milo plates and set the planter transmission to the low possible rate. This allowed us to drop 10 seeds per foot.

Tomorrow we will drill some additional plots with 7" row spacing. The drilled canola will be interseeded with a mix of cover crop species that will winterkill.

The canola hybrid was Popular from Rubisco seeds.

Have any of you planted canola on 30" rows?
