Subject: Waiting to head downstream

southern MN
I’ve seen this much water on my fields before. It’s kind of piled up with a frozen ditch down the middle. When it gets down to the Minnesota River, that too is just starting to swell the frozen, not much moving yet, ice coat on the river.

I don’t recall this much water plus this much snow left to melt before.

There is a lot of water, liquid and white, on the landscape around here.

Next weekend is supposed to warm up, 50s for highs, above freezing for lows.

There is going to be a lot of water moving next weekend. With a lot of ice breaking up and moving.

We haven’t have the deep snow since the 511 road condions web site was developed, but there have been a lot of roads with water issues already. I’ve driven past 4-5 crews working on getting water off the roads around here, don’t actually recall that before. The road ditches are so full of snow the ponding water is crossing roads here and there.

I hope all this stuff finds an orderly way south. It’s certainly stockpiling itself up waiting to flush.

Paul
