Subject: Fertilizer for 200 bu corn help

Western NY
First I apologize for the length of my question but I need your input.
Putting some corn back into my rotation to raise organic matter and improve my soil and APH. The county average here is 175. My equipment includes 6 row Gladiator strip till, JD 7000 planter w/ dry fertilizer single disk openers, Hiniker 6000 no-till cultivator and a PT sprayer. Based on an my last soil test OM% 2.3-3.9%, PH 6.5-7.5, P 15-86 ppm, K 50-100 ppm, Sulfur 5-11 ppm CEC 8.3-14, Base saturation: Ca 72-86%, Mg 8.6-14%, silt clay loam in Western NY with some tile. I'll pull new tests this spring and hopefully the numbers will be better. This would follow soybeans.

Based on the AgPHD app a 200 bu Corn grain removes 134N, 70P, 50K, 16 S, .2 Zn, .48 B. Stover removes 90N, 32P, 220K, 14 S, .3 Zn and .05 B. I won't be baling the stover. So should I fertilize for grain removal only or total removal. Are these numbers practical? The total 220# K removal worries me because my K levels are low.

Initial idea: Put 15 gal 32% N 6 inches deep with the strip till pass, Planter pass 3 x 2 dry (150# 11-52-0, 100 # K-Mag, 100 # 0-0-62) then side dress 32 gal of N at V5. That would give me 180 N, 78 P, 71 K, 21 S and add .5 # Zn @ $175 per acre. Also considering 5 gallon of 10-34-0 or 3-18-18 in furrow and adjust the dry. Many on here say that in furrow doesn't help yields. Another option but probably too expensive is put 10 gal of 3-18-18 or another mix with the strip till pass for K under the plant then lower the dry rate. Can I get good corn yields with my low K soils? Would broadcasting extra K give a ROI this yr on the low testing fields or would the 3x2 band be adequate? Also cost is a factor but you can't sacrifice yield potential either when corn is $3-4.

What would you do for the best ROI. Honestly I will be happy to average 150+ bu this year to prove I can grow corn and go from there? People near me are getting 170-200 so it should be possible.

Thanks for replies
