Subject: Learning how to farm

Hi all. So that time is approaching where I going to be visiting some colleges and universities to possibly attend after I graduate. However, living near Seattle WA, I have a slight problem. Although I have read books and things like that, I really don't know literally HOW to farm (i.e. repair equipment, operate equipment, running the business, etc.) Therefore I am confused about what I should major in. At the same time if any of you would recommend any great colleges or universities that should teach all or most of the skills necessary to farm. There is MTI in South Dakota which seems to teach a lot of these skills, but I'm uneasy about with the thought in mind that I am a pen pal with a farmer in Oklahoma who earned a bachelors in ag, and animal science. If I did go to a place like MTI, would I attain all the skills necessary to farm? Should I go to a place like Iowa State or Wester KY? I'm just unsure and was wondering what the pros might thinks of this. Pretty much anything is helpful. Thanks!
