Subject: VRT Corn Planting

SW Iowa
I also posted this on MapShots forum and got some good feedback. Thought I would see what you guys think.

I am considering VRT corn planting for this spring. I have a GS2 and a seedstar hydraulic drive planter. So I think I have all the components. My soils are quite variable with percent of Mean running from 60 to 120. So I think I can vary the population quite a bit.

I am wondering what your experiences are with this? What do you use to vary your rates, yield maps, soil type maps, something else? Is it paying off? Are you saving seed? Getting higher yields from really pushing the good spots? Is it really worth it?

Thanks Rick
