Subject: Replacing my old powerstroke

Nc Ks.
My 97 Ford 7.3 powerstroke is approching 200,000 miles and I've been thinking about upgrading. Wouldn't be new, maybe an 06 or 07 model. I've liked the looks of the dodge quad cabs. Usually the old ford doesn't go too far from home but this weekend made a 800 mile round trip to Branson hauling a load of furniture down to my daughter. That old pickup really impressed me. Set the cruise and when we got into those big hills by Branson it didn't even faze it. Right on up the hill, never downshifted, and averaged 18.3mpg on the trip. Here's my question now. I was thinking about going back to a gas motor because of the price difference between gas and diesel and the increased cost of buying a diesel engine pu vs. a gas. Would a hemi Dodge on that same trip avgerage 14 or 15 miles per gallon? Can they be chipped to upgrade the performance?
