Subject: This is getting ridiculous

SWOH
First off I'd like to say the point of this post and the post I had about my son's 3rd grade math problem is not to make it sound like my kids are smarter than their teachers...or that they are in any way geniuses. Some of these questions on their assignments are worded very poorly or don't make a whole lot of sense, though. Are they trying to dumb down kids?

Daughter's 1st grade assignment:

Read the story. Answer the questions.

Jill is Dan's little sister.
She likes to play with his toys.
Dan lets her use his blocks.

1. Who is Jill?

Daughter's answer: Dan's little sister.

2. Who is Dan's little sister?

Daughter's answer: Jill

3. Who likes to play with Dan's toys?

Daughter's answer: Jill

4: What do Jill and Dan play with?

Daughter's answer: blocks

5. Does Dan like to play with Jill?

Daughter's answer: The story doesn't tell.

Teacher writes a note under the last one that says: Yes because he lets her use his blocks.

Teacher didn't mark it wrong though. I told my daughter her answer was right...you can't assume Dan likes to play with Jill just because he let her use his blocks. Maybe he hates it and he's just being polite. Is she wrong? In my opinion she nailed it.

Edit: And re reading it, it doesn't really say Dan plays with blocks, either. It just says they are his blocks.
