Subject: When is it too late for the corn crop?

Great Southern, Western Australia
Excuse my ignorance, but lack of knowledge is why I am asking the question. Whilst we don't grow corn here in Western Australia, the corn price is highly correlated to the wheat price at the moment. I do understand that the maturity of the corn crop varies north to south, but as a general statement looking at the North American crop as a whole, at what point do you declare any rain to be of noe real benefit this season?

I guess though, just thinking out loud, there are two parts to that equation. The reality of the situation on the ground, and the perceptions of the traders in Chicago. I have heard you guys mention plenty of times that a rain in Chicago can depress prices!
