Subject: Chicken litter for small grain

Athens, TX
I am considering stockpiling chicken litter this summer to fertilize cereal rye / oats / ryegrass that I will plant in the fall. I no-till into bermudagrass and plant some into a prepared seedbed by disking. I can get chicken litter applied @ 3 T/ac for the same price as commercial fertilizer. Any opinions on advantages / disadvantages of commercial vs litter? Would it be better to spread it in disked ground and incorporate into the soil before seeding or wait until the plant is up and apply on top? I assume that you would want to wait until it was up to apply to no-tilled pastures. I usually put commercial fertilizer out 2 weeks after plants are up. This will be just for grazing, not grain. Thanks for any advice.
