Subject: Your thoughts on steel buildings

I'm looking to build a steel shop a 40'x60'x18' w/20'x60x18'lean to. I was going to put it on a 2' stem wall. I've gotten quotes on 16'x16' and 20'x16' roll up doors, but a couple of guys that have given me bids are wanting to talk me out of the big roll up doors. I've thought that is the smallest I could go on doors. Will I have problems with them? I was going to put openers on them. Also they are trying to talk me out of a 2-12 roof pitch, they are saying I should go a 1-12 pitch. I asked why, I really couldn't get a good answer from them. Will I have problems with snow coming off lean to if it is put on the northern side of building with roof line running east and west? Also thought they bid 30 lb. snow load, is that enough?

What are guys charging for erection in your areas? I've been quoted from $2.50 to $3.00 a sq. ft. for insulated roof part, what is a fair price for the lean to roof part? Any thoughts or comments will help me, thanks.
