Midwest | This is an observation by a neighbor this morning. Cattle prices will continue to surge through the summer. Feeder cattle will follow suit which will increase the cost of sales for a pen of cattle entering the feedlot. As ranchers work on updating their herd there will be a lowering of the quality of beef long term due to replacements being less expensive lower quality animals. Having said that the lowering of beef quality will not be a problem since the main meat of choice is hamburger. All the work at raising the "right" kind of cattle will go out the window as the consumer keeps on grilling hamburger. Incidentally this is some one else's opinion although I tend to agree. | |
