NW Iowa | Had a new waterline and hydrant installed yesterday. Wondering what the proper protocol is for fill around this new one? Green pipe extends only just a bit beneath the concrete and the old hydrant came up out of that. Backfilled with pea gravel with a 5 gallon bucket over the bottom of the hydrant. New one as shown is in a 3" pipe all the way down to the base. I will refill outside of the 3" pipe with rock again and fasten the hydrant to the wall to keep it from moving. Should I fill the white pipe as well or leave it empty? Inside of an uninsulated pole shed...
