| I’m sexton of a local cemetery. Cremation is getting more common all the time. Those of you who are sextons or anyone who knows, is the cost the same for a burial plot for a traditional burial versus to buy a plot to bury some ashes and then place a headstone in the plot? Or say someone spreads the ashes on their farm but wants to buy a plot to set up a headstone for the individual. Is that cost different than a traditional burial? Keep in mind we are not talking about the cost of the cremation or the embalming, we are talking just about the cost to buy a burial plot in a cemetery. Now I realize that if the cemetery is associated with a church the members of the church, in most cases, have burial rights in the cemetery. | |
