Subject: agleader yield moisture sensor off in really wet beans

We have been combining beans the past 2 days with moistures in the 13.6 to 13.0 range. I took a sample of beans to the elevator and they tested 13 while the monitor showed 12.8 - all good. Yesterday we tried some beans and the monitor showed 12.8 still. Bite testing the lower beans felt more like 14 and there were some wetter beans. However in the combine hopper they were more 'crunchy'. I thought probably an average of 12.8 is close. Anyway, it's starts raining so we stop - it was really too moist out anyway and hard to keep the trash out of the beans. I told the elevator I had some nasty beans coming in and the result was they tested 17.2 - Yikes! Only 380bu, but the difference should have been much less. Is this just a luck of the probe placement in the truck and/or a little rain on the beans on the way to the elevator (1.5 mi)? Or, are really wet beans outside of the 'sweet spot' of the agleader moisture sensor - ie. if they are really wet the sensor won't measure them correctly?

Thanks,

Pat
