Subject: Palouse questions

Pennsylvania
We drove through the Palouse region today. It's an amazing area but I have a few questions. Is it an unusually wet year? It seemed to have a lot more water than I expected. Also, there seems to be quite a bit of difference in the maturity of wheat in the area. Is that normal? Saw little alfalfa and some crop I couldn't identify, which appeared to be recently seeded. What would it be? Does anyone have an idea of how many acres of wheat are grown there? What is an average yield? Thanks for helping satisfy my curiosity.
