| If you are in the same town I’d take the high road and turn it over. Owner should pay the fertilizer, and if you spread it yourself whatever custom rate you deem is fair. He should also pay your chemical since it is not returnable. Maybe you could work out a sell price on chemical and if you do your own spraying, do the custom application and make the money there so that the chem is paid for then. If you have paid rent in December prior to farming, landowner should pay that back with interest in the same amount as say a 6month cd rate which is around 5 percent here since he would have had your money. How you conduct yourself gets around. Maybe the family member is a young farmer trying to get started ? | |
