Subject: RE: Striptill

Central Kansas
The entire neighborhood 'here' switched overnight for corn. Some full season beans are strip tilled. However it is pretty local ~30 miles.

Most units are Krause Gladiators or Orthman 1Triprs. There are several other brands (John Deere, StripCat) but they are pretty rare. Local Nutrien had a Soil Warrior which was returned after the lease.

All are shank units except for the Soil Warrior. Most putting down N, most of those are NH3. Some dual products. Most are 12 row mounted.

It works really well here since the fields are flat so it can be done straight back and forth, Yields are low enough and ground is heavy enough N loses are minimal and leaves ground cover to keep soil moisture. If you move outside of the local area one of these factors is lost thus reducing the popularity of striptill.
