I’m in Texas where they build on pilings or a slab. Most in this town don’t know what a basement is.
If you go with a basement, use lots of insulation, huge egress windrows, 9 foot ceilings minimum, floor heat, and a backup sump pump. And...an easy way to get salt to the softener. :)
