Se wisc. | Thought about slab on grade for a site that is four feet from ground water most of the year. Trying to eliminate a wet basement scenario as I have one already. Seperate mechanical room is a problem but eliminates some water softening maintenance problems. Do not enjoy carrying salt downstairs. Electrical upgrades would be tough but rodent infiltration may be easier to control. One thought of slab on grade would be to take advantage of ground temperature delta as ground is warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Not sure about that theory though. Really like the u-shaped prairie style floor plan with center being an outside courtyard for flowers and such. Just dreaming. | |
