NW IA | To piggy back on the thread on a ways, we are looking at building a house without a basement more specifically a post frame house. Looking at the pros and cons of such. Biggest pro I see is the in floor heat and con the extra sq footage you lose from the basement for mechanicals and storage/junk. I know someone will jump on here and say we will be living in a tool shed but I see it as ability to get extra insulation and maintenance free exterior for the most part along with speed of building with lower framing costs. Not really worried about resale value etc but just trying to decide if we are making a mistake going this route. | |
