Fruita CO | The Storm King fire was by Glenwood Springs, about 90 miles from here. I think it was 12 firefighters who died when the fire blew up & trapped them on a ridge. There is a monument to them at the site now...one of the worst forest fire tragedies in history. The mountain is still pretty much bare, that fire sterilized the ground.
Edit: the official name was the South Canyon fire, & it was 14 firefighters who died.
