Calhoun, McLean County, Ky		Dad had an older cousin, Ed Logan, who was in the Marines at Omaha Beach. Ed grew up near Barbourville, Ky over in the eastern part of the state where my dad's family is from. Ed said that they asked for volunteers to go on the beach to find how deep the enemy was. He said all the way going up the beach he kept thinking to himself that they knew that hillbilly from Kentucky was crazy enough to do it. Ed was about 6'3 so he said he was trying to make himself as small as he could running back. When he got home he said himself and some buddies were drinking and shooting guns in the air on their walk home, state trooper tried to arrest them and they left him tied up on the side of the road.
