Boy! Is that a loaded question,lol Just like anything else, do you have a dealer close or a pro shop. Cabela's and Bass Pro is fine and can set up the bow of choice for you, and you will need someone to do it, takes special tools. I like to shoot at an indoor range the first few times to get adjusted and sights close, I find my arrows back easier that way too lol. It's all personal preference for what works for you. You can also start with a used bow for a lot less money, I shoot a used 06 Hoyt, and have always been partial to them being invented here in Mo. I don't know if you are allowed to use a crossbow there or not, they just started letting us here a few years ago and I know a lot of guys are switching over because they like using a scope, again personal preference, unlimited options. Hope this helps and ask anything else you want, I have been shooting since I was a little fellow and shot competitively for a few years.
