I can understand that not all of the board members might be up to the task of handling the financial numbers. But I don't understand how the auditors didn't catch it. That is the sort of thing they are supposed to be trained to do, at least I thought they used to be. Seems like auditors in general have become nothing more than rubber stamps.
You pretty much got it figured out about validity of a lot of audits.
Forgot how many Million it was . Woman @ a bank in this area confiscated several million over a number of years .Bank is a state bank. So state bank examiners, fed bank examiners and CPA firm couldn't figure out what was happening under their noses over the span of several years.
