To settle the estate of a wacky sister that moved to Cali and left her estate to one of the left wing environmental groups. They wanted their cash right away, Cargill held them at bay for a couple years while they devised a plan. Cargill did well there too. I'm sure they wanted to keep the asset long term, but the sold it at the peak and cleaned up one mess. I think there are plans in the future to somehow structure things to limit that exposure in the future. (that's just me reading between the lines when I get my shareholder statement from the ESOP plan, that happens to have been my best investment over the past 20+ years. ) |
