South Central Iowa | Those are creative industries though. I think US Steel would be a more apt comparison. It doesn't fair too well.
Honestly though, Cargill is a unique entity all its own. It is the foremost global company in the most basic and necessary industry in the world. So long as humans exist, they will need to eat. Invention and innovation is not their issue; they are the great wholesaler of others inventions (Dow, Monsanto, Universities) produced with other's equipment (Farmers, Deere, Case), labor (Farmers), and risk (Banks). To top it off, they are owned by 70 odd people, mostly named MacMillan, who move in one direction and provide stability and a long-view that public companies can't quite compare with.
