| Seems like everyone is so used to politicians in office that they forget there are other ways (arguably better ways) to get the job done. Turns out the economy is pretty important and without a good economy, not much else works. Reagan knew it, Clinton finally figured it out, but this is just business as usual for the president (he isn't a politician btw).
An uncle once told me trade is important because it's an indicator of communication and if we're talking, we probably are not fighting and have a shared reason to preserve the relationship. So, trade is possibly one of the best ways to accomplish foreign policy once good relationships are established. If a country turns it's focus more on trade and a good economy, I think result is working people who don't have nearly as much time for jihad and will buy more corn from us.
Not trying to be political, but we've had to deal with our trade issues for a long time and some short term pain (that was coming regardless of politics) for long term stability would be nice. | |
