Trump may or may not have been an effort to get China to talk, starting at 10% ten going to 25% later(an olive branch). Did China respond in kind, yes. China does want cheap soybeans, but I'm sure both sides want this to end. China had the better deal, Its hard to give up privilege and go to average.
I think if you are pre-dispositioned against Trump, you wont like this. I'll wait and see where it goes. I thought China was not very smart in saying it won't allow exports to US the other day. I would have ran with that and said we will not allow any imports from China. Would have hurt us but them more.
One more note, China is wise to wait. If Trump loses US House. China will win trade war. If somehow US House and Senate stay Republican(less anti-Trump) I think China loses the trade battle. | |
