SE Indiana | That is the way I prefer to bale my stalks. It may take some extra acres but the quality of the material is much better. We run the corn head as close to the ground as possible, this feed more stalk into the combine and makes a bigger windrow to bale. I will also add that it is harder on the pickup and will require that the teeth be replaced more often. We use the stalks to bed our stock and to supplement our hay, cows love the shucks and will leave hay to eat stalk bales. | |
