As a rule here, we only bale cornstalks out of despiration because it is dry. Since it is dry, we usually have nitrate issues. Wheel rake behind the combine will leave over half of what is still standing keeping the nitrate problem out of the hay. You don't gain enough to cut what is out there anyway and heaven forbid you leave some OM for the soil.
