south central WI | Our Koster tester has went out again. We like it for accuracy, but it is too slow for most of what I need it for. Is there a quick tester for silage, both fresh and ensiled? I need something that is accurate for rained on feed as well. I dont have time to wait an hour to dry a sample in the am.
We used to use a sampler that had small bags you put the feed in, and screwed it down and took the sample. Family says that wasnt as accurate. If there is something affordable and quick that's the best. We are also considering the expensive NIR machine like on choppers. I'm wondering how that handles wet rained on feed. We do have a Deere SPFH so their unit might work. Is there other brands? | |
