Couldn't agree more. If one could guarantee the cutting date.....rye. Miss the window on rye your screwed......trit buys you a longer harvest window. My nutritionist gave me the results from 5 rye fields chopped for silage at various stages and sampled my trit at pollination and hard dough (which I posted).....rye chopped at pollination is a winner primarily due to the reduced seed cost, problem miss the window the feed degrades very fast. Personally, I'll probably plant rye from here on out......if I'm shooting for a double crop. My figures as of now are up in the air. On the double crop deal, probably just plant rye and graze off.....it works and harvest bills are zero.
