5-6 ton per acre times $120-$140 ton, more for small squares. $100 seed cost divided by 5 years. Minimal fert per year if needed. 10-40-20. Irrigation cost same as corn.

Run the numbers again with 40 lbs per ton of K removed. Also S and Mg. Also need some numbers on the labor required to cut, condition, tedd, bale, pickup, transport, pile indoors and build the shed. And the capital cost of all that machinery. I do both and it takes 3 men to make hay and 1 guy to row crop.
