Subject: Making hay as a business?

SE ND
Looking for advice/experience on raising hay for a living or as a secondary income source to cattle. I just started my own little herd last spring but have 250 head cow/calf with my dad and brother. I have always liked making hay and I was wondering if there is a profit to be made selling it. Sometimes we run short in dry years and have to buy some hay and some is not really great quality. I have felt we try to make the best hay possible instead of trying to cover ground and get "done". Would 20ac of decent alfalfa pay better that cash crops? We have all the equipment already but no inside storage. We also do some small squares. Any advice or input would be great!
