Eastern Oregon | I don't have extensive experience, but can add something. It is a cyclical business, much like row cropping. But it is more demanding for marketing and selling.
If you are customer driven, and produce consistent high quality, that will give you an edge. It takes a lot of time and effort to establish clientele. If you can do that, it makes the marketing and selling easier and more enjoyable.
It sounds like you have the passion. That is the most important ingredient, because there's a lot that can (and does) go wrong. But if you love hay, you will overcome a lot and make alright over the long term. | |
