Who would want to come back to farm when things are in bad shape? We lost a generation of farmers during the 80's for the same reason. Also, where you going to find someone, particularly a young farmer, to finance a land purchase.
Lots more young farmers have come back in the last 10 years when times were good than the previous 20 years.
