North Central Illinois | You are correct that perfect weather on every acre will never happen and that illustrates my point. Every year we have certain areas of the country that are struggling. If you are in one of those areas it seems like very big deal and feels very widespread. As we have seen the past few years we can still raise some really big crops even when we have areas that really struggled. It takes something on the order of a 1988 or 2012 to have an impact on national yield. While I doubt we see that situation this year there is the potential for a substantial yield loss due to high nighttime temps and a rushed grain fill. We haven't really seen that scenario since 2010. We need to get through pollination first. | |
