I think you're severely under estimating what the national yield would be if every acre had "perfect" growing conditions all season long.
With "perfect" conditions you can grow 200+ on some pretty crappy ground. Keep in mind that the weather needed to produce perfect conditions for every individual acre varies a lot even in the same field.
