NW IA | That sounds familiar. My dad bought a new boat in 1977. His friend had a small boat with a trailer with wood runners with carpet. He would unhook the boat from trailer and back down the ramp and hit the brakes as it came to the water, worked good. The first time with new boat with trailer with rubber rollers on the trailer, my dad thought this was the way to do it. We rolled up and made it about half way down the ramp and the boat started coming off the trailer. Two old guys were watching this. The first comment was boy that's a nice boat, the next was boy that's hard on a boat. That was at Emerson bay at okoboji. A little chip on the bottom of the hull was the only damage. Still get a laugh at it. Still have the boat. My dad passed away two weeks ago.
