Used to watch local auctioneer back up empty 4 wheel flatracks, using his pickup, onto people's lawns setting up for auctions. Quite an art. And my other thought is, they used to back up wagons with horses instead of tractors.

I've watched guys back 4 wheel trailers with horses. It appears to simplify the job as the horses can move totally sideways to avoid jack knifing. When I have a particularly difficult 4 wheel trailer to back I'll bolt a receiver hitch to the bucket on my loader tractor. Makes it a breeze. Skid loader would be even better.
