oh really. When you're a dairy farmer you have to be there no matter what. A hired man can always choose to not come in.
If you can't see the difference between working for someone else off the farm and working for yourself on the farm then I don't know what to tell you. There is a difference. Yes, the dairy farmer has to be there no matter what, but some days you can decide that today is a crappy day and spend a couple hours in the warm house with the family after milking and feeding. Some days you can't do that because everything goes wrong or you are busy, but some days you can. The hired man doesn't ever get to do that. I don't think too many hired men get to have lunch in their own home/house and have the option to decide that they are tired today and take a quick 20 minute nap after lunch.
If the hired man can choose not to come in then so can the dairy farmer. Lots of animal neglect cases out there when the animal owner just gave up and quit doing chores.
