North Central Kansas
I always say we were the beach and the ocean was to our west and North. 15 miles north and west and 30-45 miles east is limestone country. In Hays, KS they have the Sternberg Museum which has a lot of the fossils from the sea that covered western KS. It is worth going to if you are traveling through.

I have a neighbor to the West that has found a lot of Indian artifacts that date back several hundred years ago. Apparently they had an encampment on his farm. I have a farm just up the creek from his farm I have not found anything but it is probably there just hidden.
