SCIA
Historically: In down trending and flat markets, selling out 18+ months yields the best price, in up trending markets, closer sales yield the best prices. I would say, that at this time and under the circumstances of larger crops this year we will not start back to up trending markets for some time. Now, that does not mean that we will stay exactly where we are. I see flat prices, with in ranges of 3.10 to 4.45 in corn and 8.00 and 11.00 on beans. No real technical or fundamental reasons, just gut. We, here will try to sell in the upper third of these ranges. And, if we can achieve this, we will be profitable. And, yes, selling the "carry" is very useful in advancing this goal.
