| Some of those new barns are replacing outdated facilities elsewhere. Kind of like very few are pulling an old shoe-type opener planter with an 830 JD anymore, or driving their 1982 pickup.
The sow herd in China has been liquidated to the tune of twice the US and Canada herd combined over the last several years with not much indication of meaningful expansion taking place there. It is possible that once they figured out that it is much more economical to ship finished product (meat) than raw input( grain) that they will do that for the foreseeable future. Whether or not consumption will keep up, time will tell. | |
