Pittsburg, Kansas | Our corn is very good but not our best year. At least so far.
Spots in fields that were well drained see yields above 200. But too many areas that had too much water brings the averages down drastically. Maybe around 150 average? At one time I thought we would be 20 bu better than that, but just too many areas with water damage. That is the early corn.
Half our corn was planted 3 weeks later after lots of water. It had water all summer and moderate temps. Should be record corn but likely will be no better or worse than the early corn. Just too much water causing stand issues and herbicide break down.
Will be a very good crop for us, but not near as good as it could have been with a little less water early and not as good as originally expected.
Not complaining though. We are lucky.
