NESD | It is county by county and can be quite different from last year to this year. For example my county got a very small payment on corn last year, a better one the first year, again on corn. This year we will get a good wheat payment and a good corn payment. The market moving now will have a small bearing on the payment. Wheat is set. It is weighted heavier to when farmers sell the bulk of their crops. Harvest and the Jan and Feb time frames weigh in the most on setting the payments. It couldn't come at a better time for me and my counterparts in this county. I am not a big fan of sucking the government teat, but I do believe this payment will meet lots of crop shortfalls "bills" this year. | |
