Subject: Toilet

NW Iowa
So it seems I have a toilet that overflows easily. It was new last year. When it gets used, it flushes nicely and stops like it should. Will walk away and walk by it on the way to the laundry room and nothing for several hours. Next time I walk by, there is water on the floor.
Is it possible that the sewer line is plugged past the toilet and when the clothes wash drains there is to much volume to squeeze by? If the toilet valve leaks it should really run over should it? Just keep running?
I turned the water off for now to see if that has anything to do with it.
