We had two wells that are about 20 yrs old. They never pumped off of either one. One is basically abandoned. The other was capped by the last company to own It at their expense. Over those 20 years The name on the checks changed about every 6 months. Biggest check I ever got was about ten dollars. I think about as much of gas companies as the fly by night storm chaser roof repair guys.
