Subject: RE: Taking S.S. at age 62

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

I was going to wait until full retirement.  I went in a year early, as SS advises, to complete my paperwork for when I could retire.  Agent showed me that I should start a year early, according to her figures.  In the meantime, we began to sell assets in preparation and also had some good crop years.  I lost several payments because of the higher income, would have been better to wait until full retirement.  I don't believe anybody else can predict when you should start SS, there are so many changes in the rules every year.  For me, I wish I had waited until full retirement year, would have been better off.
If you don't plan to live long, it might be better to start as soon as you can.
