Fix low gear, replace the belt and learn not to mash the throttle everywhere. Problem solved. My 95 Xplorer has no trouble creeping along at whatever speed I need it to. In high gear yes, got to keep a bit of speed up or it slips the belt more than I like but that's precisely what low gear was intended for.
